Frequently asked questions

Common questions about the data, the service and the reports. See also our About page.

What is the BORME?

The BORME (Boletín Oficial del Registro Mercantil) is Spain's official gazette for commercial registry announcements. Published daily by the state, it records corporate events such as company formations, officer appointments and departures, mergers, capital changes, and dissolutions. It is the authoritative public source for Spanish corporate filings.

How often is the data updated?

We process new BORME publications as they are released, typically on business days. The search index is rebuilt periodically to incorporate the latest data.

Is the data accurate?

The data originates from official BORME publications and is extracted using automated parsers. While we strive for accuracy, automated parsing of legal gazette text can produce occasional errors. The service is unofficial and provided as is. Always cross-reference with the official BORME and, for critical decisions, obtain current information directly from the Registro Mercantil.

Do I need an account to use this?

No. Mapa Societario is completely free to use without any registration or login. Due Diligence reports are an optional paid feature purchased per company. Only an email address is required to receive the report. The payment is processed securely through Stripe.

Can I access the data programmatically?

Yes. We provide a public API for developers and researchers. Documentation and examples are available at github.com/anbrme/borme-public-api.

What types of companies are included?

The database includes any entity that files with the Spanish commercial registry and appears in the BORME. This predominantly covers Sociedades Limitadas (S.L.), Sociedades Anónimas (S.A.), and other registered entity types.

What do the graph connections mean?

Each connection (edge) in the graph represents a corporate role linking a person to a company. Roles include sole administrator (administrador único), joint administrator, board member (consejero), secretary, president, and others as published in the BORME.

Can I search by officer name?

Yes. Use the toggle at the top of the search to switch between company and officer search modes. Officer search lets you find a person and see all the companies they are linked to.

Why might a company or person not appear in search results?

If an entity does not appear, it may not yet be in our parsed dataset, or the name may be spelled differently in the BORME filing. Try alternative spellings or shorter search terms. The search index is periodically rebuilt to include new data.
